Gary and I arrived to the RV campground about 30 minutes from home on Friday night. I got up Saturday morning and went home! There will be no pictures on this blog. You really don't want to see them and I don't want to relive the Friday night, early Saturday morning experience.
Here's a summary of the vacation: Gary and I both had to work late Friday so we did not arrive to the camp ground until a little before dark. The only spots left were spots that had electrical outlets only, no water hookup. There's a place before you arrive to your camp spot to fill up the travel trailer water holding tanks with water. But....there's also a different place on the travel trailer to hook up with water if you have access to water at your camp site. This particular place on the TT does NOT put water in the water holding tanks. So....Gary attaches the water hose to the water thing on the TT. For 45 minutes we fill the tank with water...we thought. However, the digital thing kept showing Empty but we were sure it was broken. After 45 minutes we unhook the water hose and drive to our camp site.
I had taken the 26 inch tv out of Shane's room and put in the TT. We almost had a divorce over that because it weighs 80 pounds but I must have a tv. TV doesn't work. Okay, I'll read. I didn't bring books. I decided to try out the bathtub...NO WATER! Nope....no water anywhere.
I'm not happy. Then, I decided I need to go to the rest room. It's pitch black outside. Gary tells me to WALK about two blocks to the PARK restroom. I looked at him and said "In the dark!" He says "Drive." Oh please, who knows how many convicts are lurking around. I decide to just use the bottled water we brought and use the toilet in the TT.
Brent calls. Wants to know how things are going. I tell him the truth. Then he kinda reprimands ME because I am not roughing it. "Roughing it" may be his middle name but it surely isn't mine. Plus, when you get my age you think that those days are long over!
It's bedtime. I took two more tylenol hoping for a small drug overdose. I had taken the two pillows off Shane's bed upstairs and put on our bed. I figured he doesn't need them. I would like to apologize to all the people who have slept in Shane's bed and used his pillows. They were like pancakes. I did not get any sleep!
Here we are...it's Saturday morning. No sleep, no water, no tv. I got dressed and said "Bye...I'm going home." "Oh, honey, it'll get better" I heard. I said I just wanted to go home and take a bath, brush my teeth, etc. My wonderful husband said he would go with me and after I cleaned up we would go to Sam's and buy a new tv. We did. On the way home I just kept thinking "Oh, what have we done." In the meantime, he also figured out what he was doing wrong with the water. He attached the hose to the wrong place on the TT. So, we got back to the TT, hooked up the TV first (that was important!) and then he took the TT to the water place and added water. We had water the rest of Saturday. This morning, no water! He has to call someone this week to find out how to work the water. Oh...we also bought new pillows at Sam's.....and ton's more of bottled water just in case.
Saturday night we grilled steaks and had a camp fire. Even watched some TV on our new flat panel tv. I had a great night's sleep using the new pillow. All in all, it was okay starting on Saturday. I'm SURE it'll only get better!

It will get better. Reminds me of our camper we had before the one I have now, We had too much water!!! I woke to 3 inches of water on floor, a connection had come undone and was flooding the camper. You'll laugh at these things later, I know they aren't too funny right now but they will be, get a journal for your camper, I have one in mine and it makes for great reading a year or two later.
HUGS,
KAren
Sounds fun! :) I guess the way to look at it is to think that surely it can only get better...not much worse for sure!!
I just camped for the first time IN MY LIFE this past June. It was in a TENT! With both girls! It was ok, but definately took some "adjusting" to my usual, "queen" self (as my mom so fondly refers to me!) for sure!
