Spring Break 2009

No beach or ski trips this Spring Break! It was an assortment of activities so here goes...

First part of Spring Break Gary and I "camped" outside of Beaver Dam, Holiday Island, AR. Brent, Jessica, Anna Claire and Bennett joined us. The guys and Anna Claire fished. Bennett just enjoyed watching everyone and being outside.

Bennett (just a few days from being a one-year old) and Gary (age not revealed), Holiday Island, AR

Bennett and Jessica, Holiday Island, AR. It was chilly outside so Jessica, a size 2 or 4, had to put on Gary's sweats! She's a real trooper!

Anna Claire accidentally ran into the water

Brent caught a fish. Anna Claire helped reel it in. She was saying "It's pretty...It's pretty...I wanna touch it." However, once Brent got the fish out of the water, Anna Claire decided that she didn't want to touch it! I knew she had some Ma in her!!!

After a few days at Holiday Island Gary and I left to go to my sister and brother-in-law's place in Norfork. They have some land right on the river and it is beautiful. We pulled our travel trailer up right next to theirs. A friend of theirs is building a home so we parked next to it. There is a breezeway and we spent a lot of time sitting around a fire talking. Johnny and Gary fished. Sancy and I sprayed poison ivy and probably a few trees we shouldn't have.

This is our travel trailer. We stayed longer than my sister so while Gary fished I went to town shopping. I am still decorating the trailer! Gary just rolls his eyes. I got several ideas from my sister. She has her place really nice. I bought two brown throws that I will have "The Orr's" monogrammed on them. I bought a new shower curtain and hand towels, plus a hand towel holder. I am shopping for a chair that matches the furniture. I also found a perfect clock that runs on batteries.

Look closely and you will see my sister. She does not let me take pictures of her. This is their travel trailer and I love it. It has hard wood floors and plenty of comfortable seating. They were parked on one side of the breezeway and we were parked on the other.

After Sancy and Johnny left to go home Gary and I went to Norfork dam to camp. The scenery did not compare to Sancy and Johnny's land. Gary cooked trout for our neighbors on each side of us. One one side was two little old ladies. They asked if we wanted to sit outside with them and visit around the fire. We didn't. They were nice, though. On the other side was a couple a little younger than us and they were just camping, no fishing. I went into town twice to shop and got lost both times. I didn't buy very much at all but I enjoy going in and browsing in new stores. It's interesting to see what people in different areas of the state value. In this area (Norfork and Mountain Home) there were lots of fishing accessories for homes or backyard gardens. If I had a vacation home right on the river I might buy some of the fishing accessories...but I don't.
