Got an Owie

Gary told me not to post about Kaidy's owie but I told him Jamie doesn't use a computer. Angie does but that's okay. Gary said "You better hope Jamie doesn't find out about it!" So...here's what happened.

We were running at the campground after an inflatable ball. She was right in front of me and as she was running she was laughing. She turned around to see where I was and then it happened. As soon as she turned around to look at me I saw her little legs criss cross. She has a bad scrape on her face, a small scrape on her shoulder, and barely a mark on her knee. Gary cleaned the scrapes and put ointment on them. Now, at least 50 times a day she wants to talk about it and have me kiss all the places. We were in the post office this morning and she looked at this lady standing in line and said "Kaidy hurt." "Kaidy run....ball." Gary and I have made a huge deal about it that now I think she is enjoying it. This afternoon she looked at herself in the mirror and said "Peetie." I said "You are pretty." She said "Peetie owie." Yep, she's proud of it.

However, it did stop the lake swimming. Certainly don't need an infection. We have spent more time at home swimming. I have some of the cutest videos from today but they take a long time to load. We are getting ready to go back to the campground so I don't know if they'll get on the blog today.

Here's some pictures from today.

She was getting to be too brave for the big pool. I kept a life jacket on her but now she doesn't want me to hold her hands. Gary got a toddler life jacket at Bass Pro that is supposed to keep your head upright at all times. We have tried so many that claim to do that and none have worked. This one does, thank goodness.

She played all afternoon in Bennett's pool. I finally had to tell her that we couldn't go camping until she got out and took a bath. She immediately stood up and now she's taking her bath. I really don't know why I'm making her take a bath. She's been in water all day. I'm blogging while she is bathing. If I keep the bedroom door open I can see into the bathroom. Plus I have the video recorder on her. I just yelled at her "Did you know I'm watching you?" She looked right into the eye of the video recorder and yelled back "Yeah!" Every once in a while she looks at it to make sure I'm watching her.

Our entertainment at night is sitting outside after Kaidy goes to bed and then watching her on the monitor. She does the strangest things. Last night she got the quilt that I covered her with and she completely refolded it. Then she put her baby doll under it and she got out from under it. She probably spent 20 minutes making her baby doll comfortable. Then, we listened to her sing for the longest time.

Today when I put her down for her nap I put the recorder next to her bed and plugged in the monitor in the kitchen. She said "You watching me?" She knows exactly what I am doing.

I mailed my Fourth of July cards today. The picture of the grandkids is not great but one pose is all Gary could get out of them. I started mailing July 4th cards after Shane left for Iraq in May 2007. I just felt I had to do something and for some reason it made me feel good. Now, I can't stop. He's home but we are still doing them. The quality is not good but maybe as they get older we can spend more time doing a better job. I only used a photographer my first year and it turned out good but now I just don't have time to plan something like that.

If anyone talks to Jamie, please don't mention the scrape. It'll be gone by the time he comes back home.
