Do you know the song "Five little monkeys jumping on the bed.....one fell off and bumped his head....Momma called the doctor and the doctor said.....no more monkeys jumping on the bed." That's pretty much the song. Kaidence loved it and she had me singing it for 30 minutes solid. I put in the Little Peoples cd to let her listen to something else but then she would say "Betsy....Betsy....monkey....monkey." Oh, I'm sick of that song.
I was so excited that we had the camp spot that we did. I thought it was perfect for children, especially toddlers. Wrong. It is just too overwhelming for a toddler to have a swimming pool in the front yard and a playground in the back yard. The afternoon went like this: "Sim Betsy....(five minutes later) "paygown Betsy"....(five minutes later)...."Camper Betsy" and then back to "Sim Betsy." She was having so much fun. So much fun that she was swimming until 8:00 p.m. Sorry Jamie.
You have to watch her though. She would kick water in my face and then say "Sorry Betsy...sorry" and then immediately intentionally kick water in my face again. Of course I did it back to her.
I'm working with her on looking both ways to cross the road. There is a road between the lake and the camper. Even though there isn't any traffic, you just never know. After about 15 tries I finally thought I was making progress. I would hold her hand, we would stop, and then I would say "Kaidence, look that way...is there a car coming?" She would nod no. Then I would say "Look the other way...do you see a car?" Once she yelled "Yes, there's a car!" It was my car parked in front of the trailer. She was right, there certainly was a car, it just wasn't coming down the road.
She was so tired tonight. As she was falling asleep I could hear her say "simming....simming." I guess she was thinking she was swimming again. Tomorrow we are going boat riding and of course we will swim in the pool at home.
Her highlight in the lake was throwing rocks and watching the boats go by. Then, playing on the big slide at the park. I brought crafts for us to make when it gets real hot but since we are going home every day so that I can keep up with my online classes and let her take a good nap, I'm not sure when we'll get to the crafts.
I bought her a Dora fishing pole today. Walmart was all out of the Barbie fishing poles. Gary wants us to go out in the fishing boat with him in the morning and fish. We'll see. I'm not much of a fisherperson.
Videos. I didn't expect us to be in the lake so long today since we got a late start. Tomorrow I'll have my bathing suit and I will take Kaidence to the swimming area, which is right next to where we are.
