I've been blessed with a lot of things in my life. Most of all...my brother. He's always there for family. I can't describe it any better than that. He is father of the year every year. John always puts his family first. He's a great husband to Jill as well as the perfect son for mother and Jack.
Today I'm looking at the "old" pictures and realizing how close we have always been. I don't know of any uncle who does the things with his nephews that John does. He has given them such wonderful experiences....even when he tried to keep some of them a secret...like the time he took Shane to a Dallas Cowboys game and Shane was barely 16 years old. He told Shane to go ahead and speed and he would pay the speeding ticket. Yep...Shane got a speeding ticket. They decided not to tell me but when William saw me the first thing out of his mouth was "Hey, Aunt Betsy...Shane got a speeding ticket."
Oh, and then there is the time in 2006 we were in Atlanta, Georgia for the SEC Championship game. It was John, Jill, William, Patrick, Gary, Shane and me in their Suburban. John was driving. Jill was in the backseat with the map. We were trying to find the ESPN Zone. John did not have a clue where it was so he told Jill to get out the map and tell him where to go. He totally ignored her. We ended up touring Atlanta for about an hour.
We've had fun, no doubt, haven't we brother?
I love you and I hope you have a very Happy Birthday!
