I asked Bennett to help me make a salad for supper. I told him to count out 5 cherry tomatoes and put them in the salad. I heard "one" and then "two" and then nothing. I watched him. He dumped the entire basket of tomatoes in the salad. Plastic and all! We had lots of tomatoes in our salad.

And then, I asked Bennett if he wanted to wash dishes. We used half a bottle of detergent on two glasses and one plate. But, we had fun!

Jessica and the kids swimming this morning.

I'm hoping Brent and Jessica don't read this. Anna Claire went up to Bennett and hugged him and gave him a big kiss on his back. I said "Oh, that's so sweet. Bennett, kiss Sissy back." I want to cry. She closed her eyes and smiled waiting on the kiss. He picked up a football player and smacked her in the face. I wanted to cry. I asked "Oh Bennett, why did you do that to your sissy. What shall I do?" He responded back with a question "Discipline?" I did. I made him say he was sorry and to hug and kiss her. I didn't do anything else but I should have. Next time I will. I don't know what but I will do something to let him know you do not hit people. Time out maybe? I don't believe that works but I'll try.

His favorite toys are the baseball, basketball and football players that his Dad had when he was little. He lines them up.

Anna Claire's favorite toy is her playhouse. The tutu on the top is to make it "fancy."

Dirt Detector! Yea! What a scam! But, Anna Claire loves to wash her hands. The Dirt Detector has little beads and when they dissolve, your hands are clean.

Anna Claire can find the best places to hide for hide and seek! :) Actually, it took Bennett much longer than I expected for him to find her!

The kids made their own breakfast. They had so much fun putting icing on the cinammon rolls this morning.

And then they got their "Cars" and "Barbie" trays and enjoyed breakfast and two cartoons. Only two! Don't forget the chocolate milk. They get one sippy cup of chocolate milk every morning.

Granddad and Bennett swimming. Bennett just got the hang of swimming and he is so funny. He wants to laugh so bad and he will open his mouth wide open and then here comes the water in his mouth! He's loving it.

Bennett is showing me pictures of the family. He told me it was sunny so he is wearing his sunglasses. He is still in his pajamas so I don't think it's sunny in my house.

Anna Claire is signed up for soccer this fall. So, of course, Ma had some soccer balls and she and her Daddy and Granddad worked on soccer skills. Gary reminded me that he was Brent's soccer coach when Brent was young. She's really quite good.

Corbin and his friend, Logan, taking a break from swimming.

Bennett drawing train tracks for the Art Museum.

Here is his contribution to the Art Museum. Anna Claire touched it and he had a fit. He was very proud of it.

Jessica's best friend, Rachel, and her boys came over yesterday to swim. Caleb is three years old and I think Corbin is nine years old. Corbin brought a friend, Logan. Rachel and her family will be living on the Maltese Islands for a couple of years. They will be leaving in October.
Anna Claire and Corbin enjoyed a snack of organic chips, juice and water.

Yea Bennett. He learned to swim. The problem was he would get so excited he would start laughing and then water would just flood in his mouth. Jessica is with him in this picture.

Well, we are going to miss them so much when they leave tomorrow. When we aren't with them Gary and I spend all our time telling our favorite Anna Claire and Bennett stories. Bennett is going through the "Why" stage. Everything is "why?" This morning he wanted to know where Granddad was. I told him at work. "Why?" Anna Claire loves to say "Granddad silly." Granddad has been saying sentences that rhyme and Anna Claire thinks that is so funny. Today we were in the kitchen and I said something and she replied back with a rhyme and then laughed and was talking about Granddad.
I made up a version of Wipeout. I lay on the bed and make one leg go in circles. She and Bennett have to cross my leg. I do try to make it hard. If they can't then they end up falling in the "muddy water." (UPDATE: August 14, 2010 - Just called in a prescription for muscle relaxants. Down on my back from playing wipeout!)
Today we pretended that Anna Claire was a kitty cat and Bennett was a good tiger. They were in a pet store and I bought them. The kitty cat (Anna Claire) wanted me to rub her tummy and Bennett just wanted to "Roar." In the pool today he would pretend he was a shark.
I have more to post. It's just a down time right now so I'm trying to remember everything we have done the last couple of days. When they are here I don't cook, use the computer or do anything but play with them.
Tonight was huge. Brent, Jessica and the kids were going over to a friend's house. Anna Claire wanted ME to fix her hair. Yes, Ma! She has complained since she was born that "maybe you'll get better" when it comes to fixing hair. I was so excited. But, then I realized, I can't. What will I do??? I started singing the song by WonderPets "Teamwork." I told Anna Claire that Mommy and I would both fix her hair. Jessica can fix her hair the cutest ever!
