Friday afternoon around 5:00 p.m. Brent, Jessica and Bennett went to the park. After they left I took Anna Claire for a "surprise." She kept saying "Ma, if you will go ahead and tell me what the surprise is I'll act surprised later." When we were two blocks away I told her to close her eyes and then the surprise would be here.
And then we arrived at the park. She was so excited. Everyone yelled "Surprise!"
Brent, Bennett and Anna Claire. Michelle, one of the moms, in the background.
Brent in charge of making the bouncy thing bounce for the kids.
After the park everyone went to Chick Fil A.
Bennett kicked a girl in the play area. Brent told him to go tell her he was sorry. We listened to Bennett and here is what he said: "I sorry. Sometimes people makes mistakes." He is the funniest kid on this planet!
Brent washing the car. I think a sweet little girl wants to help.
Sunday morning getting ready for church. This is the actual birthday. Brent helping Bennett.
I asked for one last family picture of a family of four. Bennett ran away from the picture.
This is the sweetest little boy. Every night Bennett and I slept in the same bed. I wouldn't let him get up until the clock's first number showed a 7. Every morning a little after 6:00 a.m. I could hear him waking up. He would sit up in bed, look at me, but both arms around me, kiss me, and whisper "I love you, Ma." It was funny because his favorite sentence to me is "No kisses, Ma. I don't like kisses." But, when he wakes up and he thinks I'm alseep, he smothers me with kisses. Then, he pokes me in the face and says "Is that a 7 Ma? It's 7. I can get up now."
Anna Claire also slept with us. She would want me to tickle her arms or legs; Bennett would want me to put my arms around him and snuggle. That was a major problem every night. I couldn't do both. Anna Claire said "Ma! You have two hands." Correct. But I can't wrap an arm around Bennett and still have a hand to tickle Anna Claire's arms or legs. Anna Claire said she had a solution. She said "I know Ma. When I fall asleep I'll tell you and then you can snuggle with Bennett." Hum...
Bennett is in this stage where if you tell him something he doesn't want you to he'll say "Don't say that, Ma. Don't say that!" That's when I tell him to take a bath, eat his food, etc. I then reply "Don't say what, Bennett?" He'll reply "I'm not saying it, Ma!" He never kicked me but I did see him kick his Dad when his Dad told him to put on his shoes. Look at this face! Sweet angel.
He also corrects me when I pray. Never fails. I can not get one prayer sentence out without Bennett interrupting me and telling me what to say. There are times I give up and just say "Amen." Apparently, I don't even say that right. It's not "Aw Men" it's "A Men."
He wrote a letter to Aunt Sancy on about five little sheets of paper. He gave it to me to mail to her. I asked him what it said and he said "I'm not telling you."
Today, Sunday, April 17th, is the official birthday. Anna Claire wore her birthday hat everywhere.
She also got to choose the restaurant we would go to for lunch. When Anna Claire was two years old she spent a summer in India. She and Brent love Indian food. My food was too spicy and I looked at her plate and she was eating every bit of it. She absolutely loves it! Only Anna Claire and Brent loved it!
The birthday girl received a "something on the head thing" and a gift certificate from the restaurant. I appreciate how special they made the meal for us.
The staff were excellent. They even brought Bennett something to wear.

Betsy,
I can't believe Anna Claire is 5 years old! What a beautiful little girl - and her handsome brother. Looks like everything was a success - well, except maybe the fact that you couldn't have your arm around Bennett and still tickle Anna Claire. I think you need two more arms.
Happy Birthday Anna Claire.
Hugs and love,
Sue
