Random Things Going On

Gary is hunting, his usual, and I can't sleep when he's gone. So, I thought I would just write about what's going on.

First, I've put on some weight and we had some HCG drops just laying around. Actually, Gary tried the HCG diet and decided it wasn't for him. I thought, what the heck, I need to lose a few pounds so I'll just sneak a few drops out each day. By the end of the week I had GAINED five pounds!

Lately I've been doing a lot of cooking preparing for Thanksgiving week so that I can play with my grandchildren and visit with my children instead of being in the kitchen all week. I've put in the freezer chicken spaghetti, brownies, walnut chocolate chip cookies, taco soup, baked beans, chicken parmesan, lasagna, sourdough bread, and chicken and dressing.

I've made little Thanksgiving surprise gifts for everyone who will be at mother's for Thanksgiving.

I've redecorated the bathroom and the master bedroom in the travel trailer. My sister and I are the only people on earth who will spend more money decorating a trailer instead of a house! I think it's because you can see your accomplishment instantly. After all, how long can it take to decorate a bathroom the size of a small pantry.

Bennett called Gary today. Bennett is three-years old but so mature for his age...I think! He called his Granddad and told him he was ready for hunting. He told Gary he had his hunting clothes, hunting shoes, hunting boots, and a hunting bag to put it all in. The sweet guy...he told his Granddad that he didn't want to kill a baby deer or a kid deer but only a big deer with horns. He said he would bring his gun (i.e. Walmart $9.95 toy rifle special). My gut feeling is Granddad will not get much "real" hunting done over the Thanksgiving holiday.

We went to the Razorback game last Saturday. Angie and Aaron sat with us. I really had a good time catching up with Angie. Angie is Kaidence's aunt and Amy's sister. Aaron is a big hunter also so he and Gary shared deer pictures from their iPhones.

I added a favorite blog link. It's called Team Lashlee. Rhett Lashlee is the son of a childhood friend of mine. He is doing very well as a college coach. They have twin boys and Lauren blogs about being the mom to two twin toddlers and a wife of a college coach. I love their blog! She is beautiful and is such a good Christian wife and mother.

Last week I attended an organization seminar. I love organizing so I knew I would love hearing about all kinds of ideas. The author of several oranization books, Deniece Schofield, was so interesting. I haven't had time to do a lot of the things she talked about but I plan to. I bought two of her books and then left the place without having her autograph them! Darn! We wear 20% of our clothes. That means, 80% of the clothes in our closet we probably did not wear last year. It's time for me to start weeding out some of my clothes.
I got a care package off to Afghanistan this week. It's for the daughter of a friend of mine. It's funny how after two deployments I still can't get it right in estimating how much can go in the flat rate box. I always buy too much! I hope she likes Kashi bars, all natural peanut butter, gourmet crackers for the peanut butter, tuna meal packages (Shane's favorite when he was deployed), Starbucks instant coffee and homemade chocolate chip cookies. Why is that all that would fit in a flat rate box! I already have plenty left over for another care package but the next one I want it to be festive for the holidays.

Nightline is on and they are talking about ghosts. Looks like it will be a long wide awake night for me!

Dear, Dear Betsy,

Laurie will absolutely LOVE the package - thank you so much.
You are a woman of many talents - but have a huge Christian heart and this is what we all see the most.
Bet you did a great job in the trailer - and you are so right about the ease of changing the rooms inside a trailer. Even if it's only a bath rug and some new towels, it adds a whole new look!
Be blessed my friend, for the holidays....you are such a blessing to others. And that would include me.
Hugs to you,and many thanks.
Sue
