WEEKEND FISHING AT NANA'S POND AND OTHER THINGS

Brent and the family go to Kaleo in Florida every summer. On the way they always stop at the farm to give Bennett a couple of days of fishing in a pond that he is GUARANTEED to catch fish. That and all the farm toys Nana has.

We weren't there long and Bennett spotted one of the mules. He immediately headed over and Nana wasn't too far behind. She actually let Bennett steer. She kept her feet on the gas or brake pedal while Bennett drove all over the back yard.
Bennett also likes to just sit on the mule and pretend he is driving to Walmart or McDonalds. Anna Claire gets in the other one and they pretend they are about to run over each other. On this ride Bennett pretended he was driving a rickshaw in India and his name was Eulass. Eulass is the name of the driver they had in India.

Nana, who is pretty amazing, pulling Anna Claire, six years old, and Sutton, 13 months old.
Papa Jack and Sutton bonded from the very beginning. I kinda think Sutton knows that he is named after Papa Jack. Sutton is always happy. Sutton is sooooo smart. One morning I was holding him and he put his arms out and reached for Jack. Jack was so touched I could tell. Then, as soon as Jack got him Sutton pointed to the mule! This child is only 13 months old and he knew that I could not drive the mule but Papa Jack could! Of course, Papa Jack took him riding on the mule!
Nana always has spaghetti ready for the kids. It is Anna Claire's favorite but I think Sutton likes it also.
Bennett loves riding in the mule to go to the pond. Chris made a sign at the entrance that says "Nana's Pond." Bennett loves to fish but he has yet touched a fish. Brent kept telling him that if he was going to fish he was going to have to hold the fish that he catches. Bennett kept saying he would when he got older.
This is Bennett being Bennett. The morning they left to leave for Florida Bennett had been fishing. When he came in the house I heard him say "Momma, what happens when you put a frog in your mouth." Bennett and Anna Claire had been catching baby frogs earlier. Jessica said "Oh, Bennett, did you put a frog in your mouth?" He said yes but then he got scared that something bad would happen to him.

Sutton wanted to touch the fish but Jessica wouldn't let him. I'm sure as soon as he touched the fish his fingers would be in his mouth.
He does it. Bennett finally touches a fish.

And now he throws it back in!

Anna Claire, Sutton and Nana are on the deck at the pond. Anna Claire has baby frogs in her plastic cup. She had so much fun catching baby frogs. Bennett caught most of them for her. One night she had about six baby frogs in her plastic cup. She decided they needed a bath so she cleaned them with soap and water. Immediately they died. She said "I don't know why they don't want to be clean." She told Jessica that next time she would just clean them with clean water and not use soap.

Since this is a farm house and not a permanent residence you just might find deer heads in every room. Sutton was so fascinated with it. This particular deer head is right as you come in the door and whoever has Sutton at the time would have to stop so that Sutton could point and say "duck" (maybe it was "look") and then pet the deer. I don't know how many times a day we had to do this.

Sancy came over and brought Gabe. The kids just love Gabe, especially Sutton. He kept wanting to touch Gabe's eye.

We were sitting outside and Johnny started telling this story about a baby deer. The kids were so interested so they all went to the picnic table so Johnny could tell the story and show pictures on his phone. Anna Claire really was interested at first but she seems to have lost interest. Sutton is doing his very best to look at the picture on the phone.

Sancy and Johnny brought watermelon. It was so good and was perfect to end the day.
