Spring Break 2008

Day One - Dallas World Aquarium. About 45 minutes into our trip we had to stop for gas. I guess Anna Claire thought our trip was over. She quit playing and looked at Granddad with the biggest frown and stare you have ever seen. He told her "Don't worry, we are only stopping for gas. We still have a long way to go." She was fine then. When we arrived at the Dallas Aquarium we walked through the rainforest. There were colorful birds flying overhead and monkeys in trees so close you could almost touch them. I excitedly said to Anna Claire "Look Anna Claire, what do you see?" She very seriously replied "Kids." Yes, this was Spring Break in Texas and the place was shoulder to shoulder kids. We spent a long time in the aquarium looking at the fish. We stayed there until she was ready to leave.

Bed time consisted of Anna Claire sitting on the chair watching "Elmo's World" and then reading the book "Finding Nemo." One of the pictures in the slideshow show her watching the movie on the laptop and also reading "Finding Nemo." Actually, Ma would read it to her and then she would pretend to read it. She wanted to sleep in Ma and Granddad's bed. I told her she would have to sleep and not play. I pretended to be asleep. She would come close to my face and say "Boo Ma!" I just ignored her. Granddad has a soft heart. She realized that he would play with her so she would hit him and say "Boo...Granddad...peekey boo Granddad." She would hit him and then scream with laughter. Finally, she fell asleep. Granddad ended up moving to the foot of the bed so he wouldn't get kicked in the face all night.

Day Two - Six Flags Over Texas. This was a very exciting morning. We ate breakfast in the lobby of the motel. Then, we got on the trolley to ride to Six Flags. Anna Claire's eyes were so big riding the trolley. We rode the Merry Go Round, then three choo choo trains, and also a boat in water (she was impressed the boat was in water!) After the choo choo train she would say "more choo choo train." The boat ride may have been a little scary. Granddad was holding her and he said she was holding on tight to his arm. Anna Claire entertained people walking by while we were waiting on Granddad to bring lunch. People would walk by and she would say "hi" "hi" "hi" and then turn around and look at me and put her hands over her mouth and giggle.

Day Three - Anna Claire did not want to go home. She had the morning routine down pat - wake up, go to lobby for breakfast, stare at people and then ride the elevator. I was taking off her pj's and said "We need to get dressed to go home." She yelled "No!" I took off her diaper, half of her pj's and then she squirmed away from me. She pulled off the rest of her pj's (at this time she is stark naked!) ran and hid her head under pillows. She pulled three pillows over her head but left her booty up in the air. She was on her knees with her face under the pillows. I asked "Where did Anna Claire go?" She did NOT move at all. The ride home was spent watching "Elmo's World" about 20 times and hearing her say "More yummy Nemo snack."
