Our visit to see Shane included a wonderful trip to Virginia Tech to see Jess. I could not believe the size of the school (large) and the size of the town (small). We had coffee at Starbucks and toured the town and the campus. This is a picture of Shane and Jess standing with the Hokie bird.
Gary and Shane. This was taken the day we left to go home. It's really odd to be in a town where you see so many people in uniform everywhere you go...Walmart, restaurants, etc.
After arriving to Shane's base, we made a trip to the local Walmart to buy apartment supplies. I didn't get everything done that I wanted to but we did get a lot done in the apartment. In the last week Shane had to lease an apartment, find his clothes and belongings, buy a car, and of course, get Internet. A lot of troops are coming home and it was so nice to see "Welcome Home Troops" just about everywhere you go. This town really does support our troops!
