So Much Hype

UPDATE TUESDAY, 2:30 P.M.

UPDATE....TUESDAY MORNING 10:30 AM --- Ice is everywhere and it is still coming down. The electricity is on and off. My pampass grass has fallen down flat to the ground. We have an inch and a quarter and the local weather channel said we would get another 2 inches by tonight and before it is all said and done, 3 inches total of nothing but ice!

UPDATE....TUESDAY MORNING 6:37 AM -- Even the University of Arkansas is closed. Over 350 schools closed, 1800 homes without electricity. More expected this afternoon. We are staying warm in the house so far.

I'm making jokes about the weather forecaster (or is it weatherman?). He's saying "This ice storm coming will rival the storm in 2000." Well, I remember years by what my boys were doing. I do remember Brent having to wait a week to go on his honeymoon to Paris because of ice. In 2000 Brent also had emergency surgery while we were in Dallas, Texas for the Cotton Bowl and Cowboys game. But, can't remember weather events. I know in 2000 Shane broke his jaw playing college football while I was in Hong Kong with my sister but that was in August. I just don't remember weather events by years.

I guess I should worry more. I did set out the 2 flashlights and 2 candles I have. I even have all the laundry done and the dishwasher is running right now.

I know I will regret not going to the grocery store. My sister, in her very concerned voice, said "Betsy, you need to go to the grocery store. I know what your refrigerator and pantry look like." Hunh??? What does that mean? I have 4 cans of coke in my refrigerator and some old lettuce. The pantry has one jar of cheese whiz, leftover oatmeal from when Shane was here, and plenty of coffee and splenda. I think that should do it.

I'm even trying to get as caught up as I can with my online classes tonight. What else can I do? Watch it just pass us by. That's fine.

So...if you don't hear from me for a couple of days or a week, I'm drinking coke still. Oh, by the way, I did finish that book. Great book and I recommend it to anyone. I have about 20 pages marked with post it notes.

Hoping the ice store isnt as bad as predicted and that you arent living on coke for the next week.

Update us when you can.

We have about 3 inches of snow on the ground right now and another 5-6 expected tonight.

The storm is headed my way but so far we are supposed to get snow only. I can deal with snow--hate the ice. Stay warm

The photographs of ice on trees brings back memories. Be safe and try to stay warm. Hot tea, hot cocoa, and lots of blankets are the order of the day.
