Gary and I had a great afternoon. The 1994 Razorback Basketball team was being honored at Bud Walton Arena. I had taught several of the players back then and this was before online classes. Here is what I remember:
I spent way too much money on t-shirts for the boys!
I bought Shane a way too expensive basketball with 1994 Basketball Championship engraved on it. It sits in a glass case in the ATTIC!
There was so much excitement on campus. Everyone wore "Go Hogs" badges. That is when I got my first Razorback gold necklace. A silver one came later.
We had season tickets but strangely I don't remember going to many games until the boys left home!
There were "knock off" t-shirt vendors on every block. I must have bought a t-shirt for the boys from each of them.
Well, there has been a lot of negative feelings toward the former coach. It has taken this long for Coach Richardson and the team to be honored. I really didn't recognize some of my former students. They looked too old and feeble. I'm sure they wouldn't say that about me.
There was a certain energy in the stadium. People were excited and screaming. It really was a lot of fun. In our usual tradition, Gary and I left a little early and went out to eat.

Notes About the Recent Activities:
After we won the National Championship Alex Dillard gave his championship ring to his girlfriend. They later broke up and she sold it on Ebay. The man who bought it died last year. The widow presented it to Alex at the banquet the night before the game.
Corliss Williamson played 12 years in the NBA. He is now an assistant college coach at Arkansas Baptist College.
The entire team stayed Friday night at Coach Richardson's house.

Betsy,
I am blown away by how sweet you are to post the prayer request for Bonnie. I love how you see who she is just from reading her blog. She's even more amazing in person and always has been. When she lost a baby this past August, I was upset with God and she was not. She stayed strong in her faith and she is such an example to me. I love you for loving her and praying for her. She has not updated her blog yet but I saw that you really wanted some news so I wanted to let you know that a miracle has happened today. I will let her post and tell you more but truly know that God has heard yours and all of our prayers. Prayer works!!! Please continue. I love you so much for it!!! Know that He is hearing you.
With so much love,
Becky
Betsy,
It's been awhile since I've been here (or anywhere amongst my favorite people) and your pictures are wonderful - absolutely wonderful. Someday, as we travel, I would love to meet you. You are a beautiful person with a heart to match - I don't even have to have met you to know this.
Thanks for your friendship and for being here to share so much beauty.
The world needs it.
Hugs my friend.
Sue
