Prayers Needed for a Stranger

Bonnie Culp, Springdale, AR, lost her husband in a car wreck on the morning of January 5th. Her husband, Thomas, was on his way to school. He was a teacher at Har-Ber High and his school was having inservice that day. Only teachers come for inservice and the students have a day off from school. The weather was getting worse by the minute with ice and snow. School would have been cancelled but it was only an inservice day and students don't attend that day. Thomas was on I540 and was in the middle of cars sliding and crashing on the interstate. He died with a note from Bonnie laying on the front seat. Bonnie had written the note the night before telling him how thankful she was that he worked so hard so that she could be home with Caroline this year.

Bonnie has a 2 year old and is 14 weeks pregnant. She was admitted to the ER today due to bleeding. Bonnie absolutely can not handle any more tragedy in her life right now. She has not been handling the death of Thomas very well. Please pray for the baby.

She has a blog also and the address is http://sweetcarolinebaby.blogspot.com/

If you go to that blog and read her postings you will fall in love with her. She is a teacher also but took a year's leave to be at home with Caroline. That brings back memories in my life when I took a year's leave for Brent's first year and also Shane's first year.

Please say your prayers tonight for her. My heart just aches for her. Her birthday and Caroline's birthday was last week. During the ice storm, which was just two weeks after she buried her husband, she was left with no electricity. Of course, family stepped in but she said on her blog "Thomas would have known what to do."

My prayers are with Bonnie. My heart breaks for her in losing her husband. It is never easy to lose a spouse but especially when you lose the love of your life at such a young age, when your life together is just getting started makes it especially excruciating.
I pray for her during this pregnancy. I pray that she can relax and that the baby can be safe and healthy.

My heart is breaking as i write this and am thinking of everything she has already gone thru and everything she is going thru now.

I pray she finds comfort in knowing that her husband is surrounded by some wonderful people in heaven and that he is with her and her little ones every second of every day.

Betsy, thank you for sharing Bonnie's story. I join in your prayer for her healing and for her unborn child. I continually thank God for the selfless gift of motherhood and pray for God's protection of all mothers, but especially those facing difficult pregnancies.

There is an old bedtime prayer based on Ps. 91:11 that seems somehow appropriate for this story. It speaks of God's care when we are most vulnerable.

"When at night I go to sleep,
Fourteen angels watch do keep,
Two my head are guarding,
Two my feet are guiding;
Two upon my right hand,
Two upon my left hand.
Two who warmly cover
Two who o'er me hover,
Two to whom 'tis given
To guide my steps to heaven."
