Happy Birthday Mom!
You are more than just a mother. You are my friend. You are my confidante. Next to you I am such an imperfect person. You have taught me forgiveness, patience, giving without asking for anything in return nor expecting anything in return, sacrificing for others, and always putting family first.
When I look at the pictures in my photo albums, I see your work in every picture. You may not be in the pictures but you were there. On our family snow skiing vacations, even though you were not there, you cooked most of the meals for us. I remember at Ski Rio having your spaghetti, red beans and rice, and chili. Of course, Copper Mountain, you cooked for an army. At Angel Fire we met up with some friends and I provided "your" chili the first night we were there. I'm sure you remember all the cooking at Frisco when we took William, Jessica and Jessica's friend, Rachel. My friends always told me they needed a Nana. Now Jessica's friends are saying "I wish I had a Betsy." That is the best compliment in the world. I can't be you but I have learned so much from you.
You have always put your family first. Your grandchildren are spoiled rotten because of you but because of your generosity they have been able to have opportunities most children do not have. Thank you so much.
You are also the perfect mother in law. I know Johnny and Gary love you so much. When our friends (Gary's friends!) talk about their mother in law Gary immediately tells them he has the best mother in law in the world. And...he always follows up with "And I really do mean that...she's great!"
I wish Anna Claire and Bennett could know you. Maybe through me, they'll get a little bit of you.
Happy Birthday Mom! I love you!
