Bentonville Christmas Parade and Other Traditions

This was my first year to go to the Bentonville Christmas Parade. I was pleasantly surprised. It is one of the better Christmas parades I think. It did last a little longer than I would have preferred on a very cold day. More on that later.

Kaidence is visiting so we hit the usual hangouts for a four-year old. First, Chick Fil A. She didn't have fun because we ate lunch at home and then went there for ice cream and to play at the playground. It was around 1:00 p.m. before we arrived. She was not happy because the playground did not have other kids playing. She said it was boring.

The Bentonville Christmas Parade was anything but boring. Even Cinderella was there. Wow! We started the morning off at the Cupcake Shoppe on the square for a cookie and chocolate milk. Then, it was time for the parade so we headed to the street to find a prime spot. I'm so glad I took a blanket because the wind was windy! No pun intended but it was windy!
This is the first spot we set up camp.

This is the second spot we set up camp. Between two Suburban's. It was great. They blocked the wind and no one was in front of us. Which, fortunately for Kaidence, was a prime spot for having candy thrown at you! She ended up with more than candy. Outdoor Cap Company (friends of our's!) gave her an Outdoor Cap hat to wear. I got one also. They had a float in the parade. Look at all that candy. That wasn't all. My pockets were full also! I let her have only one piece. She was content with that. It was the type of candy that was cheap and gross.

I have never been so glad to see Santa in all my life. The parade began at 11:00 a.m. and Santa's float didn't come in front of us until 12:18 p.m. I was cold, bored, tired, thirsty, and worse, needed to go to the restroom! I did not get a picture of Cinderella giving Kaidence candy. I am so sorry I didn't but I was so excited I forgot to take a picture. She walked up to Kaidence, said hi to her and handed her some candy. Kaidence waved at her and looked and me and said "Aww, she's so pretty." I heard that a lot. Every float that had Disney characters Kaidence would wave and then say "Aww, she's so pretty."
As promised, after the parade we went to Chuckee Cheese. It was packed and half the games were broken. We didn't care. It was warm.
Now, for today, Sunday, December 5th. Slept late. We were still both tired from yesterday. In fact, Kaidence fell asleep last night before bath time. So, this morning bath time, wash hair, and accidentally flush the new pretty bracelet down the toilet. Well, she still has the necklace so that's a good thing.

We painted Christmas ornaments for Betsy's and Mommy's trees. I commented that the colors looked so "Christmasy". Kaidence commented "Yes, they do look crispy."
 Still painting.
It's hard to see the ornament on the tree. She is posing, not holding up the ornament. It is the little green thing at the bottom of the tree.
Well now, it's not Christmas unless we bake Christmas cookies Betsy's way!
Looking to see how many eggs and how many sticks of butter. The package showed a picture of one stick of butter and one egg. I told Kaidence to find the butter and find the egg and tell me how many she sees. She told me one stick of butter and FIVE eggs!

 Cleaning up, Betsy's way!
Decorating the cookies. I only had one can of white frosting and the only sprinkles I could find were white. So, we made snow cookies!
