Connecting with God

A decorated house, a finished dinner party, volumes of gifts under the tree, another party tonight ......

Maybe that's why I didn't sleep last night. Too much to do and operating in overdrive. Even my husband kicked me out of the bed at 3:00 a.m. So, what do you do at 3:00 a.m. until 5:15 a.m.?  I played Solitaire on my iPhone, checked email on my laptop, and spent most of my time praying that I will receive a particular email giving me a new address. I don't think I'll ever sleep unless I know exactly where my children are and I don't know where Shane is as I type, thus, no sleeping.

I'm reading "A Busy Woman's Guide to Prayer." My daughter-in-law, Jessica, gave this book to me in October, 2006. I'm probably on my fifth reading of it. When I feel that I'm not connected to God like I should be or I'm overly worried about something, I read this book again. I now have some pages marked, like page 110, that seem to help me regardless of the problem.

A decorated house, a finished dinner party, gifts under the tree....don't mean a thing. That will not bring happiness. It's certainly not bringing happiness to me. An address will. Just knowing my children (and daughters-in-law, grandchildren, parents, siblings, nephews, nieces, etc.) are safe and sound....priceless.

We are waiting with you and praying with you. Have patience. Have hope. This is Advent, a time to wait as Mary waited long ago.

I am reading "Waiting in Joyful Hope" written by my friend and former schoolmate Herbert C. Yost, CSC. I recommend it - for waiting.

Betsy,
As the others have said, the prayers God is hearing are not only yours, but many others as well.
I am late on responding...but hope by now you have heard from Shane,
Hugs and love,
Sue
