Shane is in the states!

I don't have any pictures but I absolutely can not leave this blog entry out. It's the most important one for me. Shane has been in Afghanistan for a year now and in June 2011 he finished his deployment and is in the states now!

This is all that has been on my mind this summer until I knew he was safe and sound. The story of how it all came to be that he had to be deployed is quite a story; however, I don't want to write about it or think about it. I will just celebrate that he is SAFE in the United States.

When he returned to the United States he had to go through outprocessing at Ft. Dix, New Jersey. Jess met him there and was with him until he was relieved of his duties. They are now in Lexington, Kentucky and Shane will return to law school at the University of Kentucky this August.

I still have not seen him. That's a little unreal for me. It doesn't seem right that I haven't seen him but he suggested that we wait until he comes to Arkansas. He and Jess are still somewhat newly married and his time with her definitely comes first. However, I would give anything to rub my hand through his thick, kinda red hair and hug him. I guess I talked about him a lot this summer with Anna Claire and Bennett because they now talk about him all the time. He is becoming bigger than life to them.

Good news, though. I will see him Monday. I have a grocery list of foods that I know he likes so I'll make a big trip to the grocery store tomorrow.

So, Shane...Welcome Home my dear son!
