My brother's (John) son moved in his dorm today. He is in the same dorm Brent was in and it was old then! I met John, Jill and Will at the back parking lot. It was an emotional morning for me so I have no idea how John and Jill are dealing with their oldest child being in college.
First, staff workers have you pull your vehicle up to the building and they help you load. A few staff workers come over and mark your belongings with your room number labeled on post it notes. Then, you move your vehicle to the parking garage.
Okay, that's fine but it was hot. I assumed the workers would come back and start moving Will in. After a much longer time than we should allowed John went off to track down Will. Yes, he had disappeared and left us with his belongings.
Will assumed his parents would take care of his belongings! ha! They all started picking up boxes and carrying them to his room. The staff workers later came to help. We didn't realize but you have to go and ask one of them to help you move boxes.
Jill is the most organized person I know. Everything was in it's place and she immediately started getting the room ready. Will should be so proud! I just stood around and watched. His room looks really nice!
I think John and Jill headed home later this afternoon. I had to go to work as this was the first day that faculty in my department had to report and we had meetings all day.
This morning really was quite funny. As I am driving to campus I call edJohn about every 15 minutes. Once when I was calling him he said "Sancy's calling." I think Sancy and I were as excited as anyone!
You only have one first-time college moving in day! William had a very successful first-time moving in day! I hope he felt the love!!!
