Gary and I had a wonderful time at the University of Arkansas Razorbacks game Saturday night, September 17th. I was invited as an honorary professor from the Athletic Department.
We were told to be at Gate 10 at 5:00 p.m. One of the Associate Athletic Directors from the Athletic Department was waiting on us at the private door to the Athletic Department area. We walked into a large room full of recruits. They were sitting at tables with their families and eating.
Then, we were taken down a hallway to a private suite that overlooks a balcony patio with tables and chairs. In the corner of the suite was a table buffet style. At that time we were told that Jeff Long, the Athletic Director, would meet us on the field right at 6:00 p.m. In the meantime, we visited with Athletic Department staff and we were both given Hog Official Sun Visors and Hog Official Coaching Shirts. Gary loves his! Mine is a little bit big. It is a medium but it's definitely a men's medium.I guess whichever son wants it can have it
Then, at a little before 6:00 we were led down a long hallway and were told to not talk. The football team and coaches were in an adjoining room and no talking from guest was allowed. We arrived on the field and a photographer was already in place waiting on us.
Jeff Long showed up just a little after six and we were led out on the field and he stood beside me and Gary was on the other side and flash, flash. It was over.
The host invited us to walk around the field and just take it all in so we did. At 6:30 p.m. we were taken to our suite to watch the game. We ate and mingled around. We had a wonderful time!
At some point I am supposed to be given a framed picture of Gary and me with Jeff Long.
