BRENT'S APARTMENT AND THE HOLE IN THE WALL

The first night or late afternoon we decide to walk to Brent and Jessica's apartment. Eulass, Brent's driver, only works until about 4:30 PM so any time we want to go somewhere after 4:30 PM we walk or take a rickshaw. We walked from our hotel to Brent's apartment.

This is where Brent and Jessica and my grandkids live. They live in Marvel Matrix on 9th floor.

This is Brent and Jessica outside their apartment door. Their neighbor is a wealthy Indian. I'm not sure what he does.

You don't wear shoes inside homes. So, look at all these shoes! The floors in their apartment are marble.

Now, I'm going to show you our walk from their apartment to our hotel. We walk this at least once a day, usually after Eulass has gone home for the day.

Right next to their apartment building is this apartment building. Clothes are hanging everywhere. 

I walk by at least 50 dogs a day. They just lay around. At first I was scared they would chase me but they don't seem to even notice people. I have, not once, seen a dog that looks healthy.

Chris Courson, would you like to work here? The scaffolding is made out of bamboo. And believe it or not, men climb up this to build buildings. Makes you wonder how safe the buildings are. Everything is concrete.

When we get to this flag we are almost half way to the hotel. We turn right at the flag.

Every neighborhood has their own temple. The first night people were lined up to worship the elephant.

You can see Anna Claire to the right. We are still walking to our hotel. Brent and Jessica are teaching us the way to get from their place to ours.

We stopped along the way to buy water.

Here, still walking, we pass the doctor's office which is shown with a red cross. Right next to the doctor's office is the pharmacy. You don't go inside. You just walk to the counter and tell them what you want. I plan on buying several bottles of Retin-A before I go home. You don't need a prescription for anything.

This is the side street where we turn to walk down an alley. I know this sounds dangerous but I have never felt unsafe here.

This is where people hang their clothes to dry.

Now, look at this. The street, or alley way, is closed with a fence. Someone cut a hole in the fence and this is the only way to get to our place from Brent and Jessica's place. You crawl through the fence. You should see us at night doing this! People are lined up with their bicycles at night to go through. That's Gary crawling through with Anna Claire waiting her turn.

After a nice long visit with the family it is night time and it's time for Brent and the family to go back home. Gary and I walk them back to the hole in the wall.
