It's amazing to me what we can pack in when we have the kids. It's so nice being grandparents. I don't stress about the house or cooking because I know way too soon I will have more time than I want to cook and clean. On the other hand, I never did stress about the house and cooking when my boys were home. I guess that's a good thing.
Here's what we did: shopped for school shoes, tap shoes, ballet shoes, horseback riding boots, clothes, trained Sid, fed Sid, dived off the diving board, rode bikes (Bennett), belly buster off the diving board, made a potholder, played numerous hours in the playroom, played the piano, picked flowers, knitting (Anna Claire and Ma) had movie night (every night is movie night but the kids act like I don't know that) and I could go on and on. The one thing we did NOT do...read books! Yikes! Ate corn dogs, spaghetti, lunchables, waffles, eggs, macaroni and cheese (Ma burned the first batch!), fruit (lots of it!), chicken and potatoes. Chocolate milk for the mornings and water the rest of the day. Bennett wanted lemonade. He said my water was yucky!
Sleeping arrangements: Sutton and Grandad upstairs; Ma, Anna Claire and Bennett downstairs. Ma on one end of the bed next to Anna Claire because she tends to fall off the bed, except for last night. Bennett scooted over, patted the edge of the bed next to him and said "Look Ma..I saved a spot just for you!" He loves to cuddle so I definitely moved to the spot he saved for me. He wrapped his arms around me and then said "Now, tell me another story about when Daddy and Shane were little." They love the snow skiing stories. Anna Claire's favorite is the time I filmed two boys skiing all the way down the mountain. I am narrating in the video "Brent is in front and Shane is behind him...and so forth." The two boys got all the way to the end of the slope and I was filming total strangers. Bennett's favorite is the story about Brent and Shane jumping over ski ramps in Colorado and Shane fell flat on his back.
Let's see if I can "show and tell."
Bennett spent most of his time in the pool. As soon as he woke up he was wanting to go swimming. Gary spent most of his time in the pool with Bennett.
Grandad (Gary) throwing Bennett up high in the air.
VIDEO of Bennett doing a belly buster....on purpose.
Sutton in the playroom.
VIDEO of Sutton moving to the music.
VIDEO of Sutton playing. He is playing with a toy phone and I asked him who he was talking to. He said "Dadda."
Grandad (Gary) and Bennett left early this morning to go out to eat breakfast and then go to Academy Sports. This was all Bennett's idea. Hum! Look what he got! A hunting shirt! You don't think he conned Grandad do you? Well, if he did...I'm sure Grandad knew it and loved it. His shoes are the "school" shoes he picked out. As soon as we bought them he said "Ma, they do look a little like hunting shoes, don't they?" So....that's why he liked these shoes!
Grandad knows better. He can't buy Bennett something without buying Anna Claire something.
Sutton thought it was so funny when Sid would chase after the dummy. He would start running toward Sid and laugh the entire time.
Bennett took care of the feeding chores. So nice!
Sutton loved putting his hands in the fence and letting Sid lick them. Gary doesn't like for him to do that and he's trying to train Sid to not lick Sutton's hands.
Bennett, Anna Claire and SUTTON picked Ma some flowers. This is the sweetest story...I was outside while the kids were picking all my flowers. I didn't notice but Sutton picked off the very top of a marigold. After he picked it, he looked at it and walked over to me. He put his hand out and handed it to me. I, honestly, thought I would cry. It was the sweetest thing in the world. I just hugged and hugged him. He knew he made me so happy. How do I know that? He let me hug him!
This is one happy little boy!
He had the playroom totally demolished. He wanted everything in the middle of the floor and then once he got it there he was on to something else.

Anna Claire said she was going to dive. She didn't. Bennett was diving so I think maybe she felt the pressure. She loved tricking us on the diving board.

Bennett has done a great job taking care of Sid when he visits. I am very impressed with his dedication. He is helping Grandad.Sutton thought it was so funny when Sid would chase after the dummy. He would start running toward Sid and laugh the entire time.

Anna Claire and I made a pot holder. Originally it was for Presley. Later, Anna Claire told me she wanted me to have it. While we were making the potholder Anna Claire told me she knew what she wanted to be when she grew up. She said she wanted "to be gymnastics in the Olympics in Arkansas."
I guess Sutton isn't a baby anymore. I am now on the lookout for a 3rd school desk. I asked Sutton if he wanted a snack. Quickly he got off the floor and RAN to the kitchen straight to Bennett's desk...not his baby high chair. He does not want to be treated like a baby.
Now, look at that face. I can't make him sit in his "baby" chair anymore. He's a big boy! He can turn on the charm. He had the playroom totally demolished. He wanted everything in the middle of the floor and then once he got it there he was on to something else.
