Gary and I left Arkansas on Friday morning, 6:30 AM to drive to Lexington, Kentucky to see Shane and Jess. We wanted to make one more trip before Shane started back school. We arrived about 12 hours later. On the way we stopped in Lebanon, Missouri to the Spode Factory Outlet (Shepherd Hills). I am so glad I found that place. We stop there every time now on the way to Lexington.
I really wanted to see where Shane and Jess worked. I didn't get to take any pictures where Jess works but it certainly was easy to take a picture of the building Shane works in. The state capitol in Frankfort. Yes, he wears a suit everyday. Imagine that! After asking the right questions I was able to figure out just what he does every day. Lots of research from my viewpoint.
They look like little specks but this is Shane and Jess on the steps of the capitol.
Betsy, Shane and Jess.
Jess, Shane and Gary.
Betsy, Shane and Jess (little specks again).
Buffalo Trace is a distillery located in Frankfort. We brought home some Buffalo Trace Kentucky Straight Bourbon and RAIN vodka. The vodka is organic. I don't know who really cares about vodka being organic but we have some.
Buffalo Trace is made from corn, rye, and barley malt, and aged in charred oak barrels.
Gary, Shane and Jess paying attention during the tour.
Okay, let me tell you something. I was the ONLY one who did not taste the bourbon during the whiskey tasting part of the tour. That's not my kind of drink! I was the ONLY one who would allow my picture to be taken!!! Go figure! As soon as this picture was snapped I handed my drink over to a nice little lady. No names will be mentioned!

It took me a long time to get these three people to stop laughing about something and stand still for a picture.

This was the most interesting part of the tour. We got to go in the building where it is all "put" together.
Before the labels. Looks like it's not quite full! Hum.... Someone is nipping on the job.Okay, let me tell you something. We spent one morning driving around to all the camp spots. You would think finding a camp spot would be easy but it isn't. Our criteria is this: 50 amps (so I can use my washer and dryer), full hook up (water, sewer, electricity so I can use my washer and dryer), nice view (don't want to face buildings, etc.), shade (that's Gary's criteria), clean (that's my criteria) and not too terribly close to other people (not a deal breaker). We aren't unsociable but I like a little space. After going to several (at least 5) we decided on Fort Boonesborough. We drove through the park and lost 6, 7, or 8 will work for me. The other lots will not. Yes, I'm a little picky. Anyway, Fort Boonesborough, founded in 1775 by Daniel Boone, is a full-scale replica of the original fort, complete with living historians. A plus...about 20 minutes from Shane and Jess. We already have reservations for October!
