We were with Brent and his family last weekend and it was wonderful! We took the camper and stayed at Lake Thunderbird State Park outside of Norman, Oklahoma. Gary calls it "Lake Dirty Bird" and it sounds a little bad when he says it. He said it in front of Bennett so, of course, you know what Bennett calls it.
This is the life. Our lounge chairs were taken over by Bennett and Anna Claire. Don't they look comfortable!
So many wonderful memories were made. Gary and Bennett spent a lot of time throwing the "dummy" in the lake and then having Sid retrieve it.
Bennett really enjoys throwing the "dummy."
Anna Claire became friends with a couple of sisters a few campsites down from us. She makes friends with everyone she sees.
Anna Claire brought several of her American Girl dolls camping with us. The other girl in this picture was camping with her family a few campsites down from us. The girl's mother told her she could come play as long as she played outside where she could see her. I don't blame the mother. She didn't know us. I put a plastic tablecloth on the ground in front of the camper in view of the girl's mother. They had so much fun playing dress up with the dolls. Later Anna Claire said "Ma, I have a new best friend." I said "I know. What is her name?" Anna Claire said "I don't know. She told me but I forgot." I wanted to laugh so bad but Anna Claire is very sensitive if you laugh "at her." I love that girl!
Here we all are out front. Anna Claire's new best friend, Bennett, Sid and me. They even let me play with them!
Sid, Bennett and me resting watching the girls play American Girl dolls. I don't think Bennett found it very interesting.
Bennett and Gary went fishing. During the morning fishing trip they didn't catch anything. When Bennett left for the afternoon fishing trip I told him he better catch some fish if he wants supper.
The kids had their scooters and I probably walked 10 miles around the park. Wherever they went, I walked following them.
Jessica walked several times around the park. I snapped the first picture and then Anna Claire said "Ma, take another picture and let me pose. (She put one foot behind the other.)
Sutton is so fascinated with Sid. He really loves Sid at a distance. Up close he is a little timid.
Sid is starting to get close to him so he is backing off.

After the horse show we all went back to the camper. Brent and Jessica had a wedding to go to so we took all three kids back with us and kept them overnight.
I was really about Sutton staying overnight. This is a first. I think everyone was expecting the worse not really knowing how this would work. He could not have been happier. Before bedtime I let them all watch Veggie Tales on the television. We slept in this order: Anna Claire, Ma, Bennett, and then Sutton. Bennett and Anna Claire both insisted in sleeping next to me. I wasn't happy about Sutton sleeping on the end but he did just fine.
Anna Claire wanted me to take a picture of her pretending she was in action on the scooter. She bends her knee just a little and poses for me. She loves posing for pictures.
What's wrong with this picture. She is the umpteenth trip around the park. Sutton is pushing Bennett in Sutton's tricycle!
Sutton loved exploring the park. As he walked be every campsite he would just stare at people. Even as he was walking past stranger's campsite he would turn his head and walk with his head turned toward the strangers. People would wave and laugh which just encouraged him more. Once he and Jessica were walking and someone said "Oh, look at that baby." He said back "I not baby. I little people."
I love this little boy! After Gary and I took them home I was telling Brent and Jessica all about the night. I asked Sutton "Sutton, did you have fun spending the night with Ma?" Quickly he responded in a loud voice "No!" He did too. He was one happy boy!
This is the cutest picture. What in the world is Bennett doing? Taking a nap?
Another fishing trip. Sutton and Anna Claire.
Gary and Bennett.
Sutton is finding "ladybugs." Every time Sutton picked up a shell he said "Look Ma...ladybug."
Sutton wanted to fish. Gary (Granddad) is showing Sutton how to fish.
Gary (Granddad) taught Anna Claire how to cast. There isn't anything that she can't do. She was better than everyone at casting. Gary left to get something out of the truck. I asked "Anna Claire, what will you do if you catch a fish. I'm not touching it." She replied "Well...I'm not touching it either." Sweet Bennett said "Don't worry Sissy. I'll take care of it."
Climbing rocks.
When we took the kids home I told Jessica "Bennett and Anna Claire did a lot of fishing." Sutton responded "I doed wocks!"
Granddad and granddaughter fishing.
Brothers having fun. Sutton adores Bennett.

Anna Claire was in a horse show one morning. She rode Zippy.
Brent, Bennett and Sutton watching Anna Claire.
Anna Claire will always remember this horse show. She experienced her first cantering. Zippy decided to zip and he took off galloping way too fast for me. Anna Claire hasn't learned how to do this yet and it did scare her. Her eyes were big with fear. The owners of the place, the horse show people....everyone was chasing after Zippy while Anna Claire was trying to stop the horse. She eventually did. She told me "Ma, I was really scared. I almost fell off." From then on, the owner had one of the workers to stay near by. Later, even with this worker below walking alongside Zippy, Zippy still took off. This time the owner was nearby and was able to meet Zippy from the other end and grab the reins. First place ribbon.

The weekend was perfect! We got to spend a lot of time with everyone. On Mother's Day Brent brought lunch for everyone. The day before I mentioned that I wanted a salad from the Rib Crib. Brent is so thoughtful. He brought lunch from the Rib Crib. He and Jessica both are two of the most thoughtful people in the world. So are their children!
When we bought the new camper Bennett told me a gillion times he didn't like it. He wanted the old camper back. The old camper had the second bedroom which was theirs and they loved it. Well, now he has decided he likes this camper better. Thank goodness. He knows that even though it only has one bedroom, when he is with us that bedroom is his!
