Sancy, John, Jill and me have been planning this party for a long time. Jill created the invitations for the party and had them ready for several weeks. We have all had so much fun planning. I called it Design by Consensus. One of us would have an idea and email the others. We were probably emailing or texting several times a week. We all agreed on everything.
I'm just sick about this. I did not take a picture of Josh and Katie together. Katie is in about 4 pictures but you have to look really hard. You would not believe how much she helped us the day before the party! And, my Aunt Anna. There is one picture of the back of her head. I got so busy that I didn't really think of making sure I had all the family in a picture.
This is the entrance to the church. The balloons were thought of the day before the party. We were decorating and someone mentioned that we needed balloons at the entrances. Jill, Katie, Sancy and me went to William's Florist in Dumas and picked out balloons.
The Memory Book table had a display of pictures of Mother.
Drink table. Water and citrus punch.
Cake table. We had three large cakes. The table only fit two cakes. Jack's daughter, Kate, provided the flower centerpiece.
Six round tables. 100 chairs.
William and Patrick brought Nana to the party. Actually, we almost forgot about bringing Nana to the party. We had put the finishing touches on the tables and Jack asked "Who is bringing Nana?" Oops. We forgot about that. William and Patrick left to go get her. The corsage came from William's Florist in Dumas.
Waiting for guests to arrive.
This is the first time Nana got a glimpse on what we have done. She didn't have any idea that we had made this into such a big production.
Jill and I were taking pictures of everything. After the party started I gave Shane my camera and then he was in charge of taking pictures. He takes better pictures than me anyway.
At one of the entrances to the church. We had balloons at the front entrance and the back entrance.
Betsy, Mother, John, Sancy.
Just another view.
Mother and Jack. We couldn't have pulled this off without Jack. He was helping us the day before set up and also the day of the party.
Guest started arriving. The party was from 1:30 to 3:30 and guests were coming and going. We estimated 200 - 225 people came. There was one time it was a mad house. Jill was cutting one cake. I was cutting the second cake. Shane was in the kitchen cutting the third cake. William and Patrick were bringing cake from the kitchen as fast as they could. The punch was going fast and Sancy was continuously in the kitchen bringing out more punch. It was crazy. There were so many people!
We put together a sitting area for Nana so that she wouldn't have to stand for two hours. This may be the only time she sat down. She didn't stay in this area long.
J. P. and Lisa came from Justin, Texas.
Gary, J. P. and Shane.
Lisa, J.P., Gary, Shane.
The matchmaker with the newly wed couple.
Nancy, Jack's daughter, Nancy's boyfriend, Mother and Corky, Jack's son.
I thought it was perfect. There were tons of Dermott people there. Josh and Katie came from North Carolina. Shane from Kentucky. Jack's family from Oklahoma and Louisiana. Happy Birthday Mother. You are amazing and I and all the family love you so much! Can you tell???
