Mr. Orr really is a true hero. He died November 13, 2013. Gary and I were in Collins and the nursing home called around 10:00 am. on November 11th and said they had taken him to the hospital because he was unresponsive. We immediately left and drove 5 1/2 hours home. Not long after, he was moved to hospice.
He loved family and they loved him. We have some wonderful memories with him.
He loved woodworking. When Brent was in college Brent would go over to his house all the time and they built a wood boat together. Once, he made Shane a bedroom suite. We have a grandfather's clock in our house he made along with hundreds of other things.
Until he went to the nursing home he was still walking every day. He was very active and enjoyed visiting with people. While he was in the nursing home we always knew when he wanted to get out. He would say to Gary "Gary, I need "so and on"." That meant he wanted to get out of the place. He would never ask Gary to just take him riding.
The last time he got to go out was about two weeks before he died. We took him riding all over northwest Arkansas to look at the fall foliage. We drove him down the back roads to places where he used to work. I am so thankful we did that.
We love you Dad, Mr. Orr, Papaw!
