What a proud moment in our lives!Just an incredible day. We were overcome with pride for Shane. Everyone knows his story......he was married in August 2009. On November 11, 2009 he received a letter from the military calling him back into service. He appealed. He lost the appeal but was able to delay the deployment until after he completed his first year of law school. What should have been his second year of law school he spent it in Afghanistan. After a year in Afghanistan he returned to Kentucky and was able to complete his next two years of law school.
October 18, 2013 - the day of the swearing in.
Shane and Jess in the lobby of the state capital.
Nana, Papa Jack and Jess waiting to go in the courtroom.
Everyone just waiting around....checking email....reading.
I'm sure we were all "checking in" with Facebook!
What a feeling this mom had! Shane walking in the courtroom! I had chill bumps all over my body.
All the young lawyers (there were about 11 of them) lined up swearing in.
And then he told them to give their families a round of applause.
And, it's over. The Judge was super nice. He told all the families the origin of the term "passing the bar."
Random pictures that were taken after the swearing in.
It was very important that my mother and Jack were there. Shane wanted them there and so did I. They have always been there for any of us. Gary drove down to Dumas to get them and bring them back to our house in Rogers. From Rogers we drove to Lexington, Kentucky.
One of the highlights of the trip was the Toyota plant tour that Jess arranged. It was impressive and certainly nothing I had expected. I have a deep appreciation now for the precision that goes into building a vehicle.
Jess had a wonderful breakfast for all of us and we really enjoyed the time all of us had together.
