So, what is this posting all about?

This week a company received permission to inject 8 - 10 patients with cells derived from embryonic cells. The patients will be paraplegics (arm movement but no leg movement). According to "Good Morning America" the cells will come from discarded invitro cells. These cells were going to be discarded anyway. The doctors will look for signs of sensation and movement in the legs. You can go to http://abcnews.go.com/Technology/wireStory?id=6713062 for the full story. I hesitate to repeat anything else I heard on the show because I was shaking so bad. I just didn't think the research would start this quick.
There is more information about this on Matt's web site at www.mattcourson.org
Yes, there is hope for Matt and all spinal cord patients just like Matt. With the progress Matt is making in therapy and now this....anything is possible!

Betsy,
I always know that when I've been away from your blog for awhile, there will be some wonderful reading, beautiful pictures, and this time some great news. I will keep Matt in my prayers - that this will be a blessing for him and hope as well.
You have a beautiful family - they have a great role model - YOU!
Hugs and love and prayers for you all (and just one additional comment-it's about the shoe clerk.
You show remarkable patience. A grown up hollering at a little girl she didn't even know? Nope, no way, not acceptable.
Hope the babies are all better and that Anna Clair likes her new shoes.
Blessings all around, my friend.
Sue
