Case in point. I'll never admit to being a good cook but this, I don't understand. I had one pot of chili on the stove and another pot full of lasagna sauce. The lasagna sauce was on the front burner and the chili was on the back burner.
I told Gary we were having chili for supper. He was in a hurry to leave for a soccer game and I was in the back of the house doing a few chores. After he left for the game I realized that the lasagna sauce had been simmering for an hour and it was now time to combine the other ingredients for lasagna.
I looked in the lasagna pot and I thought "Umm, I sure thought I had more sauce than this." I looked at the chili pot and nothing was missing.
Perception is reality. It is what is real. Gary only looks at what is in front of him...and that was the lasagna sauce. I called him and asked him what he had for supper. "Chili."
Here's the conversation:
B: "What did you have for supper?"
G: "Chili"
B: "Are you sure? What pot did you get it out of?"
G: "The front one, why?"
B: "That wasn't chili, that was my lasagna sauce....now I have to make more!"
Later I asked him how he could mistake lasagna sauce for chili. Well, now things just get a little bit worse. His comment was "Well, you know you don't season food and most of your food all taste the same." Hum, I think my cooking days are over. Next time I'll just give him a bologna sandwich and tell him we are having t-bone steak for supper.

I am sorry but I have to admit that your post made me laugh. Mostly because it sounds just like my dad. Now, my mom is a great cook but my dad just does not pay attention. If it is in front of him, he will eat it and half the time couldnt even tell you what he has eaten unless it is pointed out to him. I can call over there and ask him what he had for dinner......."I don't know, some meat and some other stuff" How can you not know what you ate? Maybe it is a man thing!
I think of all the things I make for my family, I make reservations the best!
Betsy, you just made my day! That was too funny....sounds like something David would do!!!!!
