Kentucky Trip

Oh, what a wonderful time I am having. A weekend is too short though. As soon as I landed, of course I had to buy a UK Mom and UK Law School sweatshirt. I have to do those sort of things when Gary is not with me as he doesn't see the importance. I did buy him a hunting cap that had UK on it. I'm certain he'll be tickled to death to have it! I would have shopped longer but I was beginning to think that Jess and Shane may start to think that the only reason I came was to buy a Kentucky Mom sweatshirt! Afterall, the University of Kentucky was the very first place I wanted to visit!

Kentucky Horse Races. Nothing like this! I thought Oaklawn was pretty exciting. It doesn't even compare to Kentucky races. There were acres and acres for parking. Tents were up. Tailgating was everywhere. People playing bag-o's. The atmosphere was similar to Arkansas Razorback tailgating in Fayetteville. I probably counted 50 charter buses.

Horse Pastures Everywhere On the Way to the Racetrack. This is not a good picture as it was taken as we were driving to the racetrack. But, I can tell you, driving to the racetrack was breathtaking. Miles and miles of white fences, horse pastures, and beautiful green grass. Although,I saw very few horses...um. Guess they were at the racetrack!

I did try to teach them a thing or two about betting. Next time, I'll just follow Jess around and do what she does.
