Crystal Bridges Museum and Visit with John's Family

We had a nice visit with Mother and John's family this past weekend. It was Mom's Weekend at William's fraternity so John and Jill had a lot of activities planned with William. Mother and Patrick stayed at our house while John and Jill stayed in Fayetteville.

Saturday morning we went to Crystal Bridges Museum. Everyone needs to go, except small children. Here is Mother and Patrick at the front entrance.

There's just a few rules you need to know. As we were opening the door to walk in the room with the first display Patrick was approached by a security person and that person asked him what was in his mouth. A little embarrassed and started Patrick said "M&M's." The security guard told him he could not be eating anything inside because "if he sneezed chocolate would spray all over the painting."

Mother was explaining something about tobacco to Patrick in this picture. There are a lot of rules in this place. One rule is you have to be at least 18 inches away. We were all looking at portraits and a security guard rushed up to Mother and told her that she was less than 18 inches away. Well, all mother was doing was pointing at something to Patrick. I can only guess that the tip of her finger was closer than 18 inches. That's  not all. Mother is hard of hearing. It was a lady telling Mother to step back. Mother looked at me and said "I don't know a word HE is saying." Patrick nearly fell over laughing.

After the museum we drove to Fayetteville to see William and the rest of the family. They were staying at the Marriott and we had a great time visiting in the lobby. I think Patrick really misses his brother. Patrick had this crazy idea that he was going to be able to spend the night with William in his dorm. John and Patrick had this discussion way before they even drove to northwest Arkansas. That wasn't happening. I didn't know Patrick was so stubborn. He was intent on spending the night in the dorm. He didn't.

My sweet nephews, William and Patrick. Love those guys so much. William is a freshman in college.

We had a "little" issue when leaving. As I said earlier, Patrick was intent on spending the night in William's dorm. After a little discussion with his father and Nana, he reluctantly go in our car to head back to Rogers. Well, I love this boy and I want him to have a good time at Aunt Betsy's and Uncle Gary's. I suggested we go to the movies and he could choose the one he wanted to go to. He chose Acts of Valor. It's rated "R" but it's rated R because of the violence. After checking with his Dad we made plans for Gary to take him to the movies. Going to see that movie made the night go a little better. I think he had forgotten a little how much he wanted to spend the night in the dorm.

I hope he had a good time. Before they came I asked him what he wanted to snack on. Patrick doesn't want to be any trouble so he said "Oh, I'll just snack on what is there." I said "No, you want. I don't keep food in the house. There's nothing here." He gave me a list: cashews, granola bars, chips, and Propel to drink. I had it all. To make sure I had enough snacks I had at least three boxes of granola bars and 6 bottles of Propel. In 24 hours he went through all of that. Gary made a comment to him that he sure does like granola bars. He said "Well, we don't have this stuff at my house." I imagine not! They wouldn't last a day. His favorite were a type of cinammon bar. I can't remember the brand. I wish I could and I would get him some more.

Mother has lost tons of weight. She looks so good. She thinks she needs to lose more but I don't think she does. We got to spend a lot of one-on-one time while Gary and Patrick were at the movies. It's been a long time since I've been able to do that.
