Shane and Jess were not able to come home this year for Christmas; however, we missed them terribly. I had what I thought was a neat idea this year which did not materialize. I wanted to read the Christmas story before we opened presents! There was absolutely no way the kids were going to allow that. They were on pins and needles to open presents so I just nixed the idea and Brent started the countdown.
First, the kids (Anna Claire and Bennett) have to go in the room that has the Christmas tree and they have to bring each person their presents. All the presents have pictures on the outside. I don't use name tags. Only pictures of the recipients. Then, the presents were stacked near the recipient.
Here we go!
Sutton is still trying to figure out what is going on.
All Bennett wanted this year was a gun with a scope. His Daddy's and Grandad's deer hunting and duck hunting guns have a scope. His didn't and he wanted one real bad. His guns are toy guns. Nothing real. We found a toy gun with a scope at Cabela's. All a whopping $13.98 and you would have thought we gave him a car! The first thing he said after he inspected it was "Well, the scope doesn't have glass over it like Daddy's but that's okay."
An easy bake oven for Anna Claire.
An American Girl "me" doll for Anna Claire. She named the doll Sophia.
Anna Claire wanted one so bad. She was so happy.
Anna Claire also got some matching outfits. Now, she and Sophia can be "twinkies."
Ma (Betsy) with Anna Claire and Sophia.
Brent and Anna Claire baking with the new easy bake oven.
Anna Claire drinking Ma's famous hot buttered rum, a family tradition. No rum included.
Brent, Gary, Sutton, Jessica, Betsy, Bennett and Anna Claire.
My Santa Claus looking out the window.
When Sancy, Paula and I went to War Eagle October 2012 I had only one goal in mind. To find a wreath for my front door. The very last place we visited had "my" wreath! Now...I see it is a little crooked!
Christmas, as always, was perfect. That's not true. It was almost perfect. It would have been perfect if Shane and Jess could have come but that was not possible this year. The next day we celebrated Christmas with Gary's parents at their house in Springdale, Arkansas. I am so thankful that my family is happy and healthy.
