Week with the Grandkids in Norman

I don't think Gary and I could have packed in another activity. We were busy, busy, busy. Brent and Jessica attended the annual Student Mobilization conference. Gary and I kept the kids at their house in Norman. The first day they painted the porcelain ponies that Aunt Sancy gave Anna Claire for Christmas. Bennett said his was a dragon, not a pony.

Then, a trip to Jump Zone. Sutton wanted to climb this slide but he got half way up and decided he wasn't going any further. Anna Claire had to help him climb back down.
Anna Claire and Bennett playing on one of the slides. This particular slide had two different places to exit. The kids had a blast trying to trick me in what side they would come down on. I was also waiting on them but they loved it when I was waiting on the wrong side and they never came down.

Every night we allotted at least thirty minutes for reading. We read the very SAME books every night. Sutton quickly got tired of the books we were reading and he would pick out books at his level and take them to Gary for Gary to read to him.
One night Bennett and I were laying in bed talking. We were praying and I would say a sentence and then he would repeat it. He taught me that. When we were through he said "Ma, sometimes when I go to bed I think about my paci. I really miss it sometimes." I thought that was so sweet. I told him I completely understood.
You know we can not go to Oklahoma without going to Bass Pro.
Sutton  having a blast looking at the fish.

And, then, off to the Science Museum in Oklahoma City. Anna Claire and Bennett had a blast at the Mirror Maze.

Boy, it got cold in Norman. Anna Claire wanted to play outside but I wouldn't let her outside until she was bundled up!
Sutton got some little men for Christmas...Captain America, Ironman, Wolverine, and Lizard Man. He doesn't go anywhere without ALL of them. Both of his hands are always carrying his little men. Plus, this little boy is so smart. One night we were all in the den and I said "We need to play a board game." At the same moment Anna Claire asked "What's a board game?" and Sutton jumped up off the floor and started running to the office yelling "Angry Birds....Angry Birds." Then, I followed him to the office and he pointed to the Angry Birds board game. We played it for a little while.
Bennett wanted to knit so bad. He really didn't like just Anna Claire and me knitting. So, one morning while Sutton was sleeping we all knitted. I would show him how and hold the needle in his hand. He is holding the knitting needle and looking at a football game on TV at the same time. He had no desire to knit but wanted to be a part of the "knitting" group.
I took Anna Claire to the yarn shop one day just to see what a yarn shop was. The next day while Bennett was at school Anna Claire and I went at 10:00 a.m. We both picked out yarn and needles and sat on the floor knitting. Before I knew it it was 12:15 p.m.! I couldn't believe it. We knitted over two hours. The people there showed her how the spinning machine works to put the yarn in a ball. She thoroughly enjoyed watching the people come in and pick out yarn and she loved listening to their conversations about knitting.

Bennett had to go to school one day. For lunch he took pizza (we had pizza the night before), strawberries, granola bar and a few vanilla wafers. I drew a picture of what I thought was two teal ducks to put in his lunch box. He quickly corrected me. Plus, my teal had four legs instead of two! He said he laughed at my drawings when he saw them.

Anna Claire "put on" my makeup every day. On the drive home Gary looked at me and said "What is wrong with your face? It's red!" I looked in the mirror and died out laughing. When Anna Claire was putting on my blush she said "Oooh, I like this. Let me put a little more on." Then, on the other cheek she said "Oh, I put a little too much on so now I need to put more on the other side." Needless to say, I had a LOT of blush on. When I told Gary what had happened we laughed for a good 15 minutes.
