Welcome Home Shane! A Visit with Memaw and Papaw Orr

We celebrated Shane coming home from Afghanistan Juluy 25 - 29, 2011. He was there a year and we are so thankful he is home and okay in all ways. Every day when he was there was an uneasy day. We never relaxed or forgot. He was always on our mind. I worried about things, such as, is he hot? tired? Are his allergies bothering him? How is his back? Why isn't he getting my letters and care packages? Does he know we think about him all the time? Does he realize how much we miss and love him?

Well, he was fine...I think. He didn't get most of my care packages. I showed him all of my copies of the customs forms. He looked at the stack and said "I'm pretty sure I didn't get that many." His back did bother him. I think it was all that walking but who knows? I don't think he realized how much he was on our mind and was talked about when family got together. But, it's over. It's over!

Shane arrived on the night of July 25th. Brent, Jessica, Anna Claire, Bennett and Sutton Jack arrived on July 26th. The first thing we did was go visit Memaw and Papaw, Gary's parents.

Shane and Memaw Orr.

Bennett found Papaw's walking cane and he used it as a gun.
Shane and Bennett are having a gun fight with Papaw's walking cane.
Bennett with Papaw's walking cane using it as a gun and I just noticed that he has MY BRACELET on his foot. A cousin of mine, Nancy McGraw, made the bracelet. I don't think she'll be amused seeing her bracelet treated this way!
Then, Bennett found Papaw's exercise cycle and he and Anna Claire played with it. Who knew Papaw had so many toys!
Ma (Betsy Orr) with her grands. Bennett, Sutton, Anna Claire, and Ma (Betsy Orr).
A beautiful picture. Anna Claire and Shane. Anna Claire and Bennett really adore Shane.
Anna Claire, Shane and Bennett. All summer Bennett would say to me "Ma, I can say Tali Ban. It's really easy to say."
Bennett managed to squeeze two lollipops out of Papaw. Papaw so so special. He knows the great grandkids will not warm up to him until he gives them a lollipop. Bennett said he didn't like his first one so Papaw got him another one. Somehow, Bennett ends up with two! A cute little grin out of Sutton Jack Orr, 3 months old.

Papaw Orr, he is in his middle 90's, and Sutton Jack Orr. Sutton Jack is three months old.
