Gary and I took the "art village" tour which included taking us to three of the most upscale places to visit to learn about the customs of the people. Also, Bali is known for their silver and weaving and we were taken to places that are known for quality.
The first place was a textile factory and store. Outside under a open roof locals were painting material and weaving fabric. I was very fascinated with both and spent a lot of time just watching. It's something I could not do..especially the weaving..due to the same hand action over and over and over again.
This was my favorite place (below). We were taken to a very upscale jewelry store. A building next to the store was designed to show you how the silver jewelry is made.
This guy spent a lot of time with me. He was very pleased to see me finally make a decision. I kept my eyes on a few pieces and thank goodness Gary finally said "Pick something out for your birthday." "Okay!" I bought ear rings, necklace and a very unique stingray bracelet. The ear rings are unique also. I've gotten tons of compliments on them. The necklace can be found in any store in the U.S. but I'm equally proud of it.
Below is a picture of this nice young man trying very hard to sell me wood sculptures. I didn't want to tell him that I had already bought three somewhere else. When we got ready to leave he told the driver to tell us thank you for coming. By the way, the locals who carve this stuff are very proud of the male and female anatomy. If I owned a porn shop I could have a field day buying stuff to decorate with!
