Gary and I left Rogers, Arkansas at 4:00 a.m. on Thursday morning. We arrived at Fort Boonesborough State Park in Lexington, Kentucky twelve hours later. I pulled the fifth-wheel and it wasn't a bad drive at all.
After setting up camp we were pretty tired (7:30 p.m.) and we just watched tv and went to bed early. On Friday Jess worked and Shane worked and had classes. Gary and I headed out that morning on an expedition for a cheesecake. Just try finding a real bakery in Lexington! After googling "bakery" we found one. It was a Mexican bakery. They said they had cheesecake, Shane's favorite. We bought one but as soon as we pulled out of the parking lot we both decided the Mexican cheesecake wasn't the type of cheesecake that we thought Shane really wanted.
My part of setting up camp is decorating and making everything homey. The first thing I do is put out the sign.
We could not find any type of bakery. Gary suggested Sam's and we did find one at Sam's. So, now we have two cheesecakes! Friday after work Shane and Jess came out to the camp for dinner. We sat around the fire and talked and really enjoyed just being together.
On Saturday Jess had to work some and then they both had a wedding. We didn't plan on seeing them Saturday so Gary and I went to Keeneland Horse Races. After the races we visited three Mexican restaurants trying to find a place for a dinner after Shane's law school graduation in May. We booked one knowing that we will most likely unbook it but we wanted something definite before we headed back to Arkansas.
Sunday was Shane's birthday. He turned 32 years old. Gary had bought a table at the races and we were all so thankful. Sunday turned out to be a very cold day. I don't think any of us left with more money than what we brought but at least we weren't down by very much. By my generous calculation I think from the two days I was down $20.

After the races we all went back to the camp for a birthday celebration. Shane is super excited about wearing his birthday hat.
Opening presents.
The birthday cake (cheesecake).
The park was fully decorated for Halloween.

Monday morning Gary and I slept in and didn't leave Lexington until around 10:00 a.m. We had a great drive home.
We already miss Shane and Jess so much. We love you, Shane and Jess!
